Wecome students and parents! As you can see below, we are currently very busy with summative unit projects at both the grade 6 and 7 level. At the end of this page there is an opportunity for any interested students to take part in a Human Rights Writing Contest. We will not be working on this in class but students are encouraged to challenge their creative minds with this initiative if they like! I would be happy to discuss their submissions with them if they are interested in participating.
GRADE 6 SOCIAL STUDIES
We are currently working on our Aboriginal Peoples unit. The unit test is scheduled for Monday, April 26. Students will be given a review in class during the week of April 19th to help them prepare for the test. They should also be reviewing in-class assignments and notes related to the topics below.
The main topics will include:
- treaties
- reservation land
- residential schools
- Nothwest Resistence
- Battle of Batoche
GRADE 7 SOCIAL STUDIES
All students have completed and been given both a grade and significant written feedback about their summative assessments for Cluster 2: Global Quality of Life. We are currently working on Cluster 3 of the curriculum: Ways of Life in Asia, Africa or Australasia. Students are working on developing paragraphs that explore the positive and negative effects of westernization on these eastern nations. They are examining videos, case studies, and documentaries to learn about this topic.
