School Board
The School Board's Mission is to provide diverse and comprehensive programming in a safe and caring environment to prepare all students to be responsible citizens in a democratic society.
The Board must fulfill this mission by functioning primarily as a legislative body to formulate and adopt policy, by employing a Director of Education, under whose leadership school personnel will carry out the policies of the Board with imagination and dedication.
In accordance with these principles, the Board through its mode of operation, will seek to achieve the following goals:
To function as a non-partisan, broadly representative corporate body; where each member of the Board should let his/her consideration for the entire division take precedence over partisanship and special interest - political, racial, religious, geographic, economic, social, civic, or other.
To concentrate the Board's collective effort on its policy making and planning responsibilities.
To interpret the educational needs and aspirations of the community, and to meet them through the formulation of policies that best serve the educational interests of each student.
To provide the Director of Education with sufficient and adequate guidelines for implementing Board policy.
To maintain two-way communications with various publics served by the schools.
To conduct Board business openly, soliciting and encouraging broad-based involvement in the Board's decision-making process.
To improve the Board's capabilities and procedures through training and research.
