Accessing Quality Information on The Internet

As teachers, we are often required to use the Internet to research a classroom project or collect resources for use in our lessons.  These days, the Internet is the first place most people look for information and ideas.  The information found in older encyclopaedias can be outdated or inaccurate, whereas the information that can be found on the Internet is always growing and changing.  However, sometimes it can be difficult to locate quality, accurate information when you are searching the Internet.  Did you know that St. James-Assiniboia School Division subscribes to several information databases that can be accessed at school and at home?  The next time you need to find quality information when surfing the Internet, try clicking on the icons below to explore any of the following online resources:

World Book Online

The Reference Centre links to the contents of World Book Encyclopedia.  For younger students, select the World Book Kids tab for a kid-friendly interface with more graphics and information available at an easier reading level.  While currently only available in English and Spanish, the creators of World Book Online are currently working toward the release of a French version.
